Bukcheon
 |
If
you enjoy skiing, you may have heard of Alps Ski Resort near
Jinbu ridge in Korea. Bukcheon starts from the top of the Jinbu
ridges and flows into the east sea. This stream is well known
as having many wild cherry trout. This stream is shrouded in
thick forest. This lets us enjoy flyfishing even in the hot
summer and there are no pollution sources upstream.
Some
demerits; it is hard to find a spot to park the car to approach
the stream, and because it is located far to the north, the
flyfishing season is shortened. The water warms up late in
the spring and cools down early in the fall.
How to get this field: I recommend 3 ways to
get to Bukcheon:
|
One is to go by
plane. After flying into YangYang Airport take National Road #7 and
go to downtown Ganseong and turn west onto road #46.After about
20km after you will find Buk Cheon (the access from downstream).
Second is to take the highway: From Seoul, take highway #1 or highway
#10 to Hopob I.C. Take highway #50 to Kangnung. From Kangnung take
Nat'l road #7 and go to downtown KangSeong. At KangSeong turn west
and take road #46. After about 20km you will reach Buk Cheon (the
access from downstream)
Third is to use only Nat'l road. From Seoul take road #6 through
YangPyoung. At YoungDu take road # 44 and go to Hangaeri. At Hangaeri
take road #46. After going over Jinbu Mountains, you may see the
upper stream of Buk Cheon (the access from upper stream). This is
a beautiful drive especially in the late spring and early fall.
First and second are how to get to BukCheon from downstream. The
third way is to go to the upper stream.
It's hard to find parking place for fishing in this field as I
said above, you'd better to go with a guide who kow well this field.
It's good to lodge at Alps resort near BukCheon.Besides many other
sleeping accomodations in it's neighboring since this area is near
Seorak Nat'l park.
In case tracking for fishing, it's not easy to getting out of the
stream because of the elevation, that is so high.Check an approach
out beforehand.
For a day fishing, I recommand a spot near Saemaul. Saemaul is
a village downstream. You can easily find Parking place and enjoy
fsihing with no care.
