Daei stream
Daei is a small stream: You will find Amago, another species of
Cherry trout, and this stream is another place that is possible
to fish in the winter. Like Kiwha Cheon, the water temperature stays
warmer in the winter. I am very proud of having streams like these
in Korea. This stream is very small but is perfect to fish by matching
the flies. Water rising from Hajang through underground is so clean
and nutritious that there are many aquatic insects and fish react
to the insect cycle.

As
an added note for tourists, there is a lime cave located upstream.
Samcheok municipal authorities prohibit fishing upstream near
the cave. The area allowed to flyfish is beyond the tourist
route. From the spot where Osip mainstream meets Daei tributary
to Daei elementary school, fishing is allowed and you can
catch Cherry trout at Osip Cheon that are from the main stream
of Daei tributary.
How to get this field: First by plane. After
flying into YangYang Airport, take Highway #65 (DongHae highway)
to DongHae City. At DongHae City take Nat'l road #7 for about
7 km toward Samcheok City and then take Nat'l road #38. Take
this road for about 15km until you arrive in the small town
of Sinki. Turn right and go to Daei elementary school.

Second is to use highway: From Seoul take highway #1 or highway
#10 and at Hopob I.C take highway #50 to Kangnung. From Kangnung
take Highway #65 (DongHae highway) go to DongHae city. At DongHae
city take Nat'l road #7 for about 7km toward Samcheok City until
you will see Nat'l road #38. Take this road for about 15km until
you arrive in the small town of Sinki. Turn right and go to Daei
elementary school.
Several years ago, there are some rainbow trouts besides cherry
trouts. But now we could meet only cherrytrouts in this stream.
Amagos, another species of Cherry trouts, are bigger than Cheerytrouts.I
have ever fished 36cm (about 14 inches) Amago. The water is a little
bit alkaline since it spring from lime stones.
I love to look at flapping and the following gliding of Stoneflies.
How lovely creature it is!!! The reason why I love this stream especially
is that I can find many many Stoneflies than any other streams.
And 'Osip river' the main stream of Daei
tributary was a noted salmon stream. In even early 90th, we can
easily find terribly many Chum salmons in fall.
